đź’„ When you want to buy everything NOW (at the big Sephora sale and elsewhere)
This last week I met with a client who had recently moved into a very empty home. Just floors, walls and roof. Wow, how excited she is to fill her house! And that makes sense.
It’s that feeling of “I just want it to be all done, right now.”
Maybe you’ve felt like this before when you’ve moved into a new home.
Let’s fill it up now!
Hire a designer even. The ones that wears the muted colors and the oversized smock-type coat!
What about a backyard?
Let’s make it perfect now! drought-tolerant river rock landscaping here we come!
The Sophora Spring Sale!
You’re at Rouge level! 20%! Everything feels right to buy!New baby?
So much baby stuff. I won't even say anything. I mean we once had four strollers and four of them were broken. (But they were a steal!)
My client described this feeling of filling her house as “skip to the end.”
As we approach the Sophora spring sale, it’s important to remember that you don't have to buy everything. While the sale may be tempting, it's important to prioritize your purchases and focus on the items that will truly enhance your life. Don't let the excitement of a sale cloud your judgment and lead you to overspend.
The urge to build out everything can be hard to resist. And with a house it’s difficult because you have those empty walls and rooms.
And, well, once you write a downpayment check for $100,000+ you can feel totally okay buying a $3,000 couch.
But with all of these big life changes you have to consider the whole kit and caboodle.
For a new house, you have the West Elm credenza but how are you set up for home repair and upkeep? Do you have $10,000+ set aside for the sewer line that breaks or the roof that starts to leak? Sadly, one or both will likely happen.
For a baby, you got the Snoo. Congrats, you’ll probably sleep more! But are you thinking about college savings or making sure you have emergency savings to take care of the baby when you or your partner are not bringing home a paycheck?
Those are all issues that will come up at some point and preparing for them will make life so much easier. It will also allow you to feel comfortable buying that solid cherry wood armoire.
If a major life change is headed your way, then let’s have a 100% free conversation about how to get ready for that change.
