🛍️ Guaranteed Way To Cut Shopping Spending
How does your shopping happen?
Oh no! My air purifier broke and I need a new one.
Now I’ll read reviews on Amazon for an hour.
Better watch a few YouTube reviewers.
What is a HEPA filter?
Does my vacuum have a HEPA filter?
Let’s look at Amazon for a new HEPA filter vacuum.
Are robot vacuums any good?
And after several hours you’ve purchased:
$800 worth of air sucking machines.
And it can feel great!
Here’s something I’ve learned from my own experience and from coaching hundreds of folks for the past five years.
People love research.
Research can take control of your time like that fungus that eats brains in HBO’s “The Last of Us”. (Which sadly has nothing to do with NBC’s “This is Us”.)
Your brain makes you think research is work.
It’s as if you are accomplishing something. “I researched new coffee makers for 5 hours, and I found the best one! Great work!”
But shopping isn’t working.
“But Dylan, I needed an air purifier!” (My 3-year-old actually believes she needs her air purifier to breathe. She doesn’t. She’s fine. It’s a long story.)
Yes, you may need an air purifier. But it shouldn’t cost you hours of free time.
If you want a simple way to cut back on your shopping and your research, I’ve got something nice for you next week on how to shorten your time shopping. Stay tuned.
Lastly: I’ve been thinking about this from Twitter. From the Silent Generation to Get Z you can see how Americans spend money. I’m taken back by how much Millennials differ from Generation Z. Air purifiers aren't a category strangely.
Enjoy your weekend.
