💬Everything You Need to Know About My 1:1 Financial Coaching Program

Money in our 20s was so simple.

Living off a few thousand a month. Just worrying about rent and maybe beer and pizza.

Now you’re older and monthly bills are many times that! Kids, home, marriage, health care. The old system of managing money doesn’t work.

It can feel overwhelming.

Well, that’s where coaching comes in. Financial coaching may be new to you so I’ve written this introduction to help answer any questions you may have and to see it’s right for you.

Who does my financial coaching program work best for?

  • You’ve had an “okay” financial system in place for a decade or so but now you’re at a fork in the road. Planning for a baby, house, new career or just feel you need to start saving more.

  • You have an annual income above $70k. That means we have money to put towards goals and savings.

  • You’ve taken control of your career and so many other aspects of your life but never learned how to manage your money.

  • You’re in a relationship and you want to make sure that your financial life is secure and you know how to discuss money in a healthy way.

  • You’ve tried to do “money work” on your own but it doesn’t seem to get done. You’ve read a few books, listened to some amazing podcasts or read articles on money management, but when it comes to changing your money habits it’s very hard to follow through.

What happens in your Financial Coaching Sessions?

Coaching is about tailoring a program that fits your exact needs. For our first three calls we are focused on drawing out your goals and determining where your money is going at the moment.

Once we have a clear picture of your spending and savings, we begin to take actions such as canceling subscriptions and starting new savings accounts. We tackle any ‘big’ topics weighing on your mind and address them. (e.g., retirement funds, saving for a home, can you afford that big purchase/vacation, how to save for college expenses).

After every conversation you’ll have tasks to work on. Don’t worry, it’s not about overwhelming you. We work at your speed. Coaching is built to your needs and bandwidth.

Throughout the entire program I’m there to keep you accountable. If you want to change your spending habits or build up your savings my role is to ensure that happens. When you stumble or hit a roadblock with a goal (which happens to EVERYONE) we’ll look at the problem and find out how to handle it better next time.

You’ll exit the program with a tailor-made plan that is simple and something you can keep using years later. When new financial situations come up you won’t panic because your system has that covered.

What does Financial Coaching include?

1:1 COACHING

For the first three months two one-hour coaching sessions. In the fourth month we meet for a single one-hour coaching session. We build a road map for your specific needs and work together to resolve all your outstanding money frustrations.

OFFICE HOURS

I’m available to you outside of meetings each week. Email me anytime and I’ll reply within 48 hours. I don’t want any client to sit on an urgent problem for weeks. Let’s get on a call and fix it.

What's the investment for my financial coaching program?

What is wonderful about financial coaching is that the work is about saving money so over the year you will see a return on investment. Clients are able to make smarter choices about their spending and save several hundred or thousands each month. And saving doesn’t just happen for that year, but the coaching process is about helping you build a new mentality around money that lasts your lifetime.

For Individuals:

It’s $850/month for the first three months.

Then $425/month for every following month.

For Couples:

It’s $1,050/month for the first three months.

Then $525/month for every following month.

For the first three months we meet every two weeks. We’ll build your budget, establish your goals and start to save for them. Then in the fourth month you’re taking more control of your finances and we move to one session a month.

Why work together on Financial Coaching for a year? Not just a few sessions? Does it really take that long?

If I could make you the financial zen master in one session I would love to do it.

However, our feelings around money have been in our bodies since we were children. You’re working to change habits you’ve had for maybe 20, 30, 40 years. Understanding and changing your current feelings about money takes time.

With my program we build you a new financial system that you keep in place for the long term. You’ll learn how to manage your money and know how to solve any future problems.

I’ve had clients have everything in place in seven months while I’ve had some clients want to meet monthly for years. Coaching is about giving help that is specific to you. We define your goals and I keep you accountable to reach them. Then when you’re ready, you take the helm and sail off into the world on your own.

What if I want financial coaching for more than a year?

That’s up to you! Coaching is about giving you help that is specific to your needs. After a year many clients often want to take more control so we meet less often. Maybe every two or three months. For some, they’ll use our time together to get stuff done as “This is their only time I have to think about money”. And we sit down and get sh*t done. It’s a power hour.

Couples often stay longer than a year with me as they enjoy having a coach there to help them address their finances in an unbiased environment.

What can we do together? Give me some examples!

  • Get your finances in order to prepare for milestones such as marriage, home ownership or child rearing.

  • Build a rainy day fund.

  • Save to fund things such as the holidays and vacations

  • Search and cancel any unwanted monthly subscriptions.

  • Find out why you haven’t been able to save money and then start saving.

  • Look into your spending and know exactly where your money is going.

  • Remove any stress from shopping and vacations.

  • Establish savings accounts for all the fun and serious expenses you have coming up.

  • Make sure your money is only being spent on what you really care about and cut out the frivolous.

  • Keep you accountable to your savings goals

  • Give you a simple financial program that you continue to use after working together.

Three ways Financial Coaching will help you

1. FEEL IN CONTROL WITH YOUR MONEY.

What are you confident with? Your job? Your hobby? That’s the same level of confidence you deserve with money. You’ll feel comfortable spending money for daily purchases such as dinner out or online shopping. But also let’s make sure you’re in control of your finances for big expenses this year and 20 years from now.

2. YOU’RE GOING TO REMOVE ANY STRESSFUL MONEY SURPRISES.

Let me share something about your future:

You’re going to have medical bills.

The car is going to break down.

You’re going to have another vet bill.

The house is going to need a new air conditioner.

Wouldn’t it be great if you had the money set aside for each of those situations? Let’s do just that. Once we start saving consistently for these future bills you’ll remove a TON of surprise. So you’ll have the cash for the bad stuff.

But also

3. YOU’RE GOING TO FEEL AMAZING SPENDING MONEY ON TRAVEL, SHOPPING OR FOOD. (OR EATING PIZZA IN VENICE WEARING YOUR NEW GUCCI)

Once you’ve saved for emergencies (they will happen), you can also save for vacationing in Palm Springs or update New York. Let’s ensure you have the money so you feel good before, during or after the trip.

How do you start?

Let’s set up a coffee conversation. We’ll discuss where you want to be with money and what has held you back.
